The current global economic crisis? Here in America dissembling economists call it a "recession." Some Guy, uh... that would be me, calls the similar conditions that prevailed when FDR was president and millions of workers were demanding a New Deal from him The Lesser Depression of the 1930s. Either way, "depression / recession," the Japanese have a word for it (see below). By my lights there is none better, in any language. I would only add, "...and the neoliberal capitalists you rode in on!"
